Created by students at the University of Michigan, this map of Black Central Europe aims to render what has long been invisible – the history of Black people in Central Europe – visible.
Our map offers detailed explorations of different figures, events, organizations, and objects from the past, showing the reader where they lived and migrated.
The Black Central Europe Map also illuminates German representations and productions of Blackness and Black people. It highlights German artworks, music, literature, and other cultural products that depicted Black people throughout history.
