Draw examples from Ulrike Kramer’s book Neger heißt nicht (bloß) “schwarz” pp. 86-107 to show shifts in “official” definitions of words like “Neger” over 1980s 1990s and up to present. In this page, select out a few and arrange them chronologically. Useful for helping to explain resistance to campaigns to change names of sweets, words in kids’ books, blackface controversies, etc. Also very useful for non-Germanophone audience to see the different mainstream presumptions from 1980s onward, which particular motivation for activism.
Just do “Neger” family of words, or also incorporate definitions of “Mohr” and “Schwarze” and “Farbige” etc.?
